December – A Gentle close to the Year
Honouring the Journey You’ve Walked
As we approach the final days of the year, the light is softer, the days are quieter, and nature begins its long exhale. December carries a sense of completion – a natural pause before the next cycle begins. And yet, as the world around us so often accelerates into festive activities, nature itself is slowing down.
While much of life encourages us to rush toward what’s next, this season invites us to do the opposite: to soften, to reflect, and to honour the ground we’ve covered. Before stepping into a new year, there is real value in acknowledging the journey so far – the growth, the lessons, the challenges navigated, and the moments that shaped us.
Contrary to the pace we see all around us, this isn’t a month for pushing.
It’s a month for slowing down and noticing – gathering the wisdom of the past twelve months and letting go of what no longer needs to be carried forward.
Here are a few gentle prompts to support your reflection this month:
- What moments, big or small, defined your year?
- What did you learn about yourself through challenges or change?
- Where did you grow in ways you didn’t expect?
- What are you ready to release as this year comes to a close?
Taking time to honour your year creates space – space for clarity, for lightness, and for whatever will eventually emerge in the months ahead. There’s no need to plan or set intentions just yet. That part will come naturally in the new year.
For now, simply allow yourself a moment to acknowledge the person you’ve become through the experiences of this year.
With warmth and deep appreciation,
