“When you rewrite the ‘software’ of your mind, you change the ‘printout’ of your life… And the world.”
Robert M. Williams, M.A. the originator of PSYCH-K®
PSYCH-K® is a process that allows you to quickly and easily identify and change subconscious beliefs that may be limiting you in realising your full potential in life.
The subconscious mind can be like a minefield of limiting beliefs and outdated ‘programs’ that are no longer worthy of who you are, and who you are becoming. These limiting beliefs affect all aspects of your life including; your relationships, self-esteem, financial prosperity, career choices, even your health and fitness. PSYCH-K® has the ability to help you clear a safe path through those ‘roadblocks’ to a new place of expanded potential in every area of your life.
Our life is a reflection of our beliefs! These beliefs (usually subconscious) are the cumulative effect of life-long ‘programming’. Attitudes, beliefs and values are drawn from past experiences, usually in early childhood and are stored in our subconscious mind so that we are often unaware of how they influence us on a daily basis, directing our actions and behaviours automatically.
PSYCH-K® provides a user-friendly way to rewrite the ‘software’ of our mind by detecting and changing beliefs that sabotage us into beliefs that support us, through a quick and easy process of Balances.
Kinesiology, or muscle testing, as it is often know is used to establish a communication system, which can be an accurate detector of subconscious truths held within us. Life experiences often trigger a dominance of left or right brain reaction to particular situations or sets of circumstances. PSYCH-K® facilitates integration/‘cross talk’ between the hemispheres of the left and right brain, creating a whole-brained state, ideal for changing self-limiting beliefs in to more self-enhancing ones.

What is PSYCH-K®?
PSYCH-K® is a unique and direct way to change subconscious beliefs that perpetuate old habits of thinking and behaving that you would like to change. It is a simple process that helps you communicate with your subconscious mind so that you can change beliefs that limit your self-esteem, relationships, job performance, and even your physical health! PSYCH-K® is popularly characterised as a spiritual process with psychological benefits. While “psych” is often used as an abbreviation for “psychology,” in our case it is used as a variant spelling of the word psyche, meaning “mind,” “soul,” or “spirit.” Thus the overall goal of PSYCH-K® is to help you free your mind from beliefs that limit your recognition of yourself as a spiritual being having a human experience.
How and where did PSYCH-K® originate?
PSYCH-K® came in to being in America in 1988, through its originator Robert M. Williams, M.A.
It was a response to the frustration that came with the realisation that typical counselling techniques, which rely almost exclusively on ‘insight’ and ‘motivation,’ seldom create real and lasting changes. Rob has spent over 30 years developing and improving PSYCH-K®. His background in both business and psychotherapy creates a results-oriented approach to personal change. PSYCH-K® was inspired by a variety of processes, some contemporary and some ancient. It offers the opportunity to create dramatic changes at the level of the subconscious mind, quickly and easily. Rob is based in the USA and now lives in rural Taos, New Mexico.
How does PSYCH-K® work?
PSYCH-K® is a unique process evolving from many years of brain research, hundreds of sessions with individuals as well as workshop groups. It creates a receptive, “Whole-Brain State” that dramatically reduces resistance to change in the subconscious mind. The subconscious can be accessed in a way that we can compare to a personal computer. PSYCH-K® works as a kind of ‘mental keyboard’ — a user-friendly method of communicating with the subconscious mind (with the assistance of muscle testing) that is simple, direct, and verifiable.
What is Muscle Testing?
Muscle testing forms part of the PSYCH-K® process since it’s an effective, gentle and painless way to communicate with the subconscious mind. Muscle testing, or kinesiology as it’s also known, can be used in many different ways and is used by chiropractors, osteopaths, naturopaths, physiotherapists, nutritionists and educators. For example, it can be used to assess whether an external stimulus, such as a food substance, might have an impact on the physical body in a negative way. This method of feedback comes directly from the partner’s subconscious, rather than from the practitioner, so the power remains with the partner, not the practitioner.
The subconscious controls the autonomic nervous system, for example, our bodies move because the subconscious mind directs a complex set of electrical signals to just the right muscles, at just the right time, to perform a task such as reaching for an object. The strength of the electrical signal will determine the strength of the response in the muscles of the body. The electrical signal is dramatically affected by what thoughts are being contemplated in the mind. When the subconscious mind is holding a stressful thought, it can indicate this by reducing the electrical signal strength to the body, resulting in a weakened muscle response. The same thing happens when a person makes a statement with which the subconscious mind disagrees, it creates a conflict which results in weakened muscle response in the muscles of the body. Consequently, muscle testing can be used to determine what thoughts are stressful to the body, as well as what ideas (beliefs) are supported or not supported at the subconscious level of the mind. During the PSYCH-K® process, we use a simple form of muscle testing using the muscle in one arm to determine a strong or weak muscle test response.
How can PSYCH-K help me?
Your subconscious beliefs establish the limits of what you can achieve. If your life feels like a car being driven with one foot on the accelerator and one foot on the brake, chances are you have a conflict between your conscious goals and your subconscious beliefs. This kind of conflict can show up in your relationships, job performance, self-esteem, prosperity, even your physical health and day to day stress. If you are facing challenges in any of these areas of your life and would like to be able to align your subconscious beliefs with your conscious goals, you can learn how to do this by attending a PSYCH-K® workshop. Alternatively a PSYCH-K® Facilitator can support you with a private 1-1 session.
What is a PSYCH-K® Balance and how quickly does it work?
A PSYCH-K® Balance is the change process in PSYCH-K®, where changes are made at the level of the subconscious mind. Designed to create balanced communication with both hemispheres of the cerebral cortex, the left and right hemisphere. This ‘Whole-Brain State’ is ideal for reprogramming the subconscious mind with new self-enhancing beliefs that support your goals rather than block them! When you are in a whole brain state you are relaxed, receptive and reprogrammable.
The effects of a Balance can be experienced during the Balance itself. The results, however, may take longer, depending on the goal and the action that needs to be taken in relation to that goal. For example, if someone has a goal to be slim and healthy, they might put action steps in place to help them realise their goal, such as a change of diet and more exercise and it could take months or longer to achieve this specific goal. The important thing is that steps are being taken towards the goal. If someone has a goal to communicate effectively in a job interview they have the next day, they will achieve their goal the very next day. How long it takes to achieve your goal will largely depend on what kind of goal it is.
You may notice that other things change in your life as a knock on effect of the Balance. It can be helpful, after a PSYCH-K® session, to observe your life and notice even the small changes.
Do you need to repeat affirmations for a period of time with PSYCH-K®?
You don’t need to repeat affirmations over a period of time with PSYCH-K® since we are working at the deeper level of the subconscious mind. Affirmations are usually repeated when they are directed at the level of the conscious mind, which requires repetition in an attempt to reach the subconscious. Once you have changed a belief at the deeper level of the subconscious mind using PSYCH-K® you do not need to repeat that belief again.
I have a condition/illness, can PSYCH-K® resolve or cure this?
It is important to know that PSYCH-K® is not a substitute for professional medical treatment, rather it is often a complement to it.
The PSYCH-K® approach is about transforming any limiting subconscious beliefs you may have that could be related to your physical condition. These beliefs are usually acquired in the early stages of your life, and often persist into adulthood, below the level of your conscious awareness. There is a well established biological interaction between the mind and the body, this is where PSYCH-K® may be of help to you.
Because Facilitators are not usually medically qualified, they can’t address your condition as a medical doctor would, using a diagnosis and treatment program. In other words, with PSYCH-K® we do not diagnose or treat diseases. However, using PSYCH-K®, we help you change subconscious beliefs that may be influencing your health and wellbeing, both mentally and physically.
Sometimes a condition improves dramatically just by using PSYCH-K® !
While it is not possible to guarantee a specific result, which depends largely on the individual and his or her condition, PSYCH-K® has over 30 years of history helping people achieve a satisfying and joyful life, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. If you are ready to move forward in your life by co-creating a new state of wellbeing, PSYCH-K® may well be for you.
Can I facilitate PSYCH-K® with a group, through group coaching?
Unfortunately you cannot use PSYCH-K for group coaching sessions, it is solely reserved for Facilitating in a 1-1 setting. You could talk about the benefits of PSYCH-K® in a group session as an invitation to offer 1-1 sessions though. When you embark on the training you’ll also be required to sign a workshop participant agreement form, in which you’ll agree not to to teach any part of the PSYCH-K® process to others, whether 1-1 or in a group setting, since this is not permitted either.
